History of the brand
Founded in 1860 by Edouard Heuer in Switzerland, TAG Heuer pioneered precision timekeeping, famously inventing the oscillating pinion (1887) and high-accuracy stopwatches. Renowned for motor racing, it created iconic models like the Carrera (1963) and Monaco (1969). Renamed from Heuer to TAG Heuer in 1985, it is now part of LVMH.

Here at Prime Time, we specialise in the repair and servicing of all TAG Heuer models, from the quartz Formula 1 to the in-house Heuer 01. All work is carried out on-site in our state-of-the-art workshop. We offer a comprehensive 2-year warranty on all our TAG Heuer servicing.
A full service includes:
- Complete Disassembly: Stripping down of the watch movement to component level.
- Ultrasonic Cleaning: Multi-stage chemical cleaning to remove congealed oil and metal debris.
Part Inspection & - Replacement: Replacement of worn minor parts (e.g., reversing wheels, clutch springs).
- New Mainspring: Installation of a brand-new mainspring for optimal torque and power reserve.
- Movement Re-assembly: Careful rebuilding using synthetic oils (e.g., Moebius 9010) specific to high-beat movements.
- Regulation: Timing checks and regulation in 6 positions.
- Refinishing: Watch case and bracelet are stripped for professional polishing.
- Sealing: The watch is re-cased with new gaskets (crown, caseback, and crystal) and pressure tested for water resistance.
- Chronograph Testing: Specific function testing for start/stop/reset mechanisms.
- Quality Control: A 7-day test on a cyclowinder before return, complete with a 2-year warranty and complimentary watch pouch.

Battery and Pressure Testing
We can provide a maintenance service for your Tag Heuer quartz. This includes a new battery being fitted, all gaskets replaced (We keep most in stock) the case and bracelet are ultrasonically cleaned, the watchis pressure tested to the correct depth and all with a 2 year warranty.
Polishing
We have a dedicated polishing room led by our brand trained watch polisher Mike. We can polish your watch using the correct polishing techniques and latest equiptment to make sure we keep all the sharp edges and correct finishes giving you piece of mind.
Quartz Servicing
We do a lot of quartz Tag Heuer servicing whether it is a vintage Tag F1 to most modern quartz Tags. Pop yours in today and we can provide a free quotation.
Part Repairs

Specialist Care for your TAG Heuer
Our workshop handles hundreds of TAG Heuer timepieces, giving us unique insight into their specific engineering quirks.
We are particularly experienced with the Calibre 5 movement (based on the ETA 2824/Sellita SW200), found in the Aquaracer and Carrera. A very common issue we resolve is the reversing wheels seizing. This causes the rotor to spin rapidly when you manually wind the watch (often called the “helicopter effect”), which can damage the movement. We inspect and replace these wheels as standard during a service.

Likely not. This is a common de-synchronization issue on quartz models (like the Formula 1) You can perform a hand reset found in the instruction guide or pop it into us and we can reset the hands for you.
Mechanical movements like the Calibre 5 should be serviced every 5 in years in our opinion from experience. If you are unsure then you can pop in for a free health check.
Yes. We take water resistance seriously. We replace all seals and use a dry and wet pressure tester to verify the watch is water-resistant to its rated depth. The industry standard vacuum test is 100M (10 bar) but we also have wet testing facilities to test to 1250 metres! (125 bar)
We stock most gaskets and aim to provide this service the same day. If we have to order gaskets from the brand however it can take a couple of weeks. We can offer to fit a battery and call you when the seals arrive so you still have your watch to rely on in the meantime.
We offer a 2-year warranty on all TAG Heuer servicing. This covers all work carried out and parts replaced.
