Full Omega Watch Service

Here at Prime Time, we specialise in the repair and servicing of all Omega models, from vintage Constellations to modern Planet Oceans. All work is carried out on-site in our state-of-the-art workshop by technicians trained in the nuances of Omega calibres. We offer a comprehensive 2-year warranty on all our Omega servicing.

A full service includes:

  • Complete Disassembly: Stripping down of the watch movement to the individual screw and wheel.
  • Ultrasonic Cleaning: Multi-stage chemical cleaning to remove congealed lubricants and debris.
  • Part Replacement: Replacement of minor wear parts (if needed) using genuine Omega components.
  • New Mainspring: Installation of a fresh mainspring to ensure factory-standard power reserve.
  • Co-Axial Specific Care: Movement re-assembly using specific microscopic oiling techniques required for Co-Axial escapements.
  • Regulation: Timing checks and regulation in 6 positions to ensure accuracy within COSC or METAS parameters.
  • Refinishing: Watch case and bracelet stripped down for polishing (We retain sharp lines on twisted “lyre” lugs; for vintage pieces, we can preserve the patina if requested).
  • Resealing: The watch is re-cased with new seals (including Helium Escape Valve gaskets) and pressure tested.
  • Quality Control: The watch is tested for a week on a cyclotest machine before being returned to the client with a 2-year warranty and complimentary watch pouch.

Specialist Omega Services

Speedmaster Chronograph Setup

The Calibre 1861 and 3861 movements found in the Moonwatch require intricate adjustment of the cam and levers to ensure the chronograph starts, stops, and resets perfectly without “creep” or “stutter.” We specialize in these manual wind movements.

Helium Escape Valve (HEV) Service

Distinctive to the Seamaster Professional and Planet Ocean ranges, the HEV is a common entry point for moisture if the internal gaskets perish. We strip, clean, and reseal the valve to ensure your diver remains watertight to its rated depth.

Lyre Lug Refinishing

Omega is famous for “twisted” or Lyre lugs (found on Speedmasters and Aqua Terras). Bad polishing ruins these lines. We use specific lapping techniques to maintain the sharp definition between the brushed top and polished side bevels.

Hesalite Crystal Polishing

Vintage and classic Speedmasters use acrylic Hesalite crystals. We can professionally polish out scratches and scuffs from the Hesalite to restore clarity, or source and fit genuine Omega replacements if cracks are present.

Specialist Care for your Omega

We possess deep technical experience with the specific idiosyncrasies of Omega movements.

We are highly experienced with the Co-Axial escapement (found in Calibre 2500, 8500, and onwards). This mechanism requires incredibly precise lubrication amounts on the pallet stones; too much oil stops the watch, too little causes rapid wear. Unlike generalist repairers, we use the correct epilame coating and microscopic application techniques to ensure longevity.

We also frequently resolve issues with the Omega Seamaster crown. The screw-down threads on the tube can strip over time. We have the specific tooling to extract the press-fit pendant tube and replace it with a genuine part, restoring full water resistance.

Genuine Omega Parts & Swiss-Grade Alternatives

Genuine Omega Parts & Swiss-Grade Alternatives

Preserving the functionality of your watch is our priority. We prioritise the use of genuine Omega parts for internal repairs. While Omega has a robust supply chain allowing us to often source factory-new components, there are times when parts are obsolete (common in vintage Calibre 500 models). In these cases, or at your request to reduce costs, we will discuss the best Swiss-made alternatives with you.

Frequently asked questions

One of the benefits of the Co-Axial escapement is reduced friction, which theoretically extends service intervals. Omega recommends 5 to 8 years. However, oils still dry out over time. If your watch is losing time or the power reserve has dropped, it is time for a service at Prime Time.

Yes. Hesalite is a type of acrylic that can be polished. We can usually remove light-to-medium scratches during a service. If the crystal has deep cracks or crazing, we will recommend replacing it with a genuine Omega Hesalite crystal.

Vintage watches generally lose their water resistance as metal surfaces pit and corrode over decades. While we replace all seals and test the watch, we often advise treating vintage pieces (pre-1990) as “splash proof” only, to preserve their history and value.

Yes. The 9-link “Bond” Seamaster bracelet is notorious for requiring a specific “pin and collar” system. Many non-specialists lose the tiny collars, causing the bracelet to fall apart. We stock the correct sizing components to repair and resize these bracelets safely.

We offer a 2-year warranty on all Omega servicing. This covers the work carried out and the parts replaced, giving you peace of mind that your timepiece is performing to the highest standard.
